We’ve given the EOS R7 the deep-learning AI and iTR AF technology you’ll find in our EOS R3, EOS R5 and EOS R6 cameras. This means it can recognise people, animals and vehicles and keep them in pin-sharp focus wherever they move in the frame.

Autofocus that defies expectations

Wildlife photographers will love the way the camera recognises birds in flight, keeping them sharply focused as they soar across the landscape. Sports photographers will appreciate the ability to track people moving quickly and unpredictably – even when wearing a helmet, looking in a different direction or turning upside down.

The EOS R7’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF II focusing system covers and tracks subjects across virtually 100 per cent of the frame1 and delivers fast, accurate AF even when light levels fall to -5EV2 or when using a maximum aperture of f/22.

Imagine being able to shoot long exposures handheld, intentionally blurring moving subjects while keeping the rest of the frame pin-sharp – all without reaching for a tripod. Or shooting super-smooth video while walking with the camera. The EOS R7’s in-body image stabiliser (IBIS) unlocks all sorts of new ways to be creative and might even make you rethink the way you use your camera.

Staying steady even when you're not

The camera’s in-body image stabiliser works with the optical IS built into many of our RF lenses. Thanks to the lightning-fast communication and huge physical width of the RF mount, a 5-axis stabilisation of up to 7 stops3 with the RF-S 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM and up to 8 stops13 with other RF lenses is possible, allowing for stable shooting of long exposures without any camera shake while holding it in your hands.

And when shooting with a lens without optical IS (such as fast, fixed-focal-length lenses), the EOS R system’s wide lens mount allows the EOS R7’s In-Body Image Stabilizer to still provide highly effective camera shake correction.

Super stable video footage

When shooting video, the in-body IS systems and optical IS are complemented by a third technology: Movie Digital IS. Together, these systems smooth out camera movements to such an extent that you’d be forgiven for thinking the footage was shot on a rig.

The perfect photographic moment can last for mere fractions of a second, which is why we designed the EOS R7 to be exceptionally fast. Shoot RAW, JPEG and HEIF files at a stunning 15 fps6 – or up to 30 fps4 when using the camera’s silent electronic shutter7 – with continuous AF and AE that constantly react as you shoot. The electronic shutter's 1/16,000 s maximum speed reveals details often missed by the naked eye.

Engineered for fast reactions

The camera’s DIGIC X processor delivers rapid, nimble handling, and practically eliminates viewfinder lag for a truly responsive shooting experience. Up to 42 RAW files and 126 JPEG files can be shot in a single 30fps8 burst.

Smooth motion, captured perfectly on video

Video frame rates up to 4K 60p and Full HD 120p9 are available. It captures moving objects with incredible precision and creates super-smooth slow-motion effects in post-production.

Image quality that defies expectations

Images are rich in detail, colour and dynamic range – even in low light thanks to a maximum ISO 32,000 sensitivity. The 7K oversampled output from the sensor creates 4K video of exceptionally high quality, and Canon Log 3 provides a wide dynamic range and editing options after shooting.

The APS-C advantage

The EOS R7 is built around an APS-C sized sensor, so lenses have more telephoto 'reach' than the same focal length on a full-frame camera. Thanks to its smaller sensor format, the EOS R7 is also more portable – which is great for wildlife trips, airshow photography or shooting sports events.

Integrate and expand

When it comes to lenses, with the EOS R7 you can use all the EF and EF-S lenses you own, thanks to the available Canon Mount Adapters, and they will work exactly as you remember, if not better, because of the EOS R system’s greater functionality.

You can tailor the EOS R7 to work just how you want it to. Customisable dials and buttons complement custom shooting modes and a programmable ‘My Menu’ screen.

Share, send, stream and process

The EOS R7 is a connected camera that can work alongside your smartphone, tablet or computer via the Canon Camera Connect app. A low-power Bluetooth connection maintains communication with your smart device, so you can browse, download and share images and videos in full or reduced size over Wi-Fi wherever you shoot. Plus, the EOS R7 is also compatible with iPhones11, so you can connect via a high-speed USB-C cable.

Keep your social media followers up-to-date with exciting events as they happen, or send images directly to a client if you are working professionally. The EOS R7 even makes it possible to stream live video to YouTube5.

Built-in Wi-Fi makes it easy to connect independently to our online gateway, image.canon, for seamless direct transfer12 of your images and videos to cloud storage for review later. Transfer all images so they are ready and waiting for you when you get home, or rate, select and transfer only the ones you want.
