We gave the EOS R7 the deep learning AI and iTR AF technology you'll find in our EOS R3, EOS R5, and EOS R6 cameras. This means it can recognise people, animals, and vehicles, and keep them sharply in focus, wherever they move in the frame.

Autofocus that defies expectations

Wildlife photographers will love the way the camera recognizes birds in flight, keeping them sharply focused as they soar across the landscape. Sports photographers will appreciate the ability to track fast-moving, unpredictable subjects – even when they are wearing helmets, looking away, or are upside down.

The EOS R7's Dual Pixel CMOS AF II focusing system covers and tracks subjects across almost 100% of the frame1, and delivers fast and precise autofocus even when light levels drop to -5EV2 or with a maximum aperture of f/22.

Imagine being able to shoot long exposures to intentionally blur moving subjects while holding the camera in your hand, without reaching for a tripod. Or record super-smooth video while walking with the camera. The EOS R7's In-Body Image Stabilizer (IBIS) unlocks all sorts of new ways to be creative and may even make you rethink the way you work with your camera.

Stay steady even when you're not

The camera's in-body image stabilizer works in tandem with the optical image stabilizer built into many of our RF lenses. Thanks to the lightning-fast communication and wide physical width of the RF mount, 5-axis stabilization of up to 7 stops3 is possible with the RF-S 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM, and up to 8 stops13 with other RF lenses, allowing for stable long-exposure shooting with no camera shake while handheld.

And when shooting with a lens without an optical image stabilizer (such as those with a fixed focal length and large aperture), the wide lens mount of the EOS R system allows the EOS R7's in-body image stabilizer to still provide extremely effective camera shake stabilization.

Extremely stable video footage

When shooting video, the in-body image stabilizer systems and optical image stabilizer are complemented by a third technology: digital movie image stabilizer. Together, these systems neutralize camera movements to such an extent that you would be forgiven for thinking the footage was shot using a gimbal.

The perfect photographic moment may last only a fraction of a second, which is why we designed the EOS R7 to be extremely fast. Capture RAW, JPEG, and HEIF files at a stunning 15 fps6 – or up to 30 fps4 when using the camera's silent electronic shutter7 – with continuous AF and AE that constantly respond as you shoot. The electronic shutter's top speed of 1/16,000 s reveals details often missed by the naked eye.

Built for fast reaction

The camera's DIGIC X processor provides fast, dynamic control and virtually eliminates viewfinder lag for a truly responsive feel during shooting. Up to 42 RAW files and 126 JPEG files can be captured in a single burst at 30 fps.8

Available frame rates during video recording are up to 60p in 4K and up to 120p when recording in Full HD quality9. It captures moving subjects with incredible precision and creates super-smooth slow-motion effects during post-production.

Photos are rich in detail, color, and dynamic range – even in low light thanks to the maximum ISO 32,000 sensitivity. The 7K output of the sensor is oversampled to create exceptionally high-quality 4K video, and Canon Log 3 provides a wide dynamic range and editing options after shooting.

The APS-C advantage

The EOS R7 is built around an APS-C size sensor, so lenses have a longer telephoto "reach" compared to the same focal length on a full-frame camera. Thanks to its smaller sensor format, the EOS R7 is also more portable – which is great for wildlife travel, aerial photography, or capturing sporting events.

Integrate and expand

When it comes to lenses, with the EOS R7 you can use all the EF and EF-S lenses you have, thanks to the available Canon mount adapters, and they will work exactly as you remember, if not better, due to the increased functionality of the EOS R system.

You can customize the EOS R7 to work the way you want. Customizable dials and buttons complement the custom shooting modes and programmable "My Menu" screen.

The EOS R7 is a connected camera that can work with your smartphone, tablet, or computer via the Canon Camera Connect app. The low-power Bluetooth connection maintains communication with your smart device so you can view, download, and share full or reduced-size images and videos via Wi-Fi wherever you shoot. In addition, the EOS R7 is also compatible with iPhone11, so you can connect via a high-speed USB-C cable.

Keep your social media followers informed of exciting events as they happen, or send photos directly to a client if you work professionally. The EOS R7 even makes live video streaming to YouTube5 possible.

Start the editing workflow early

The built-in Wi-Fi function makes it easy to connect independently to our online portal, image.canon, for seamless direct transfer12 of your images and videos to cloud storage for later review. Transfer all images so they are ready and waiting for you when you get home, or evaluate, select, and transfer only the ones you want.
