The Alien series - the new generation of advanced professional diode panels
Alien 150C and Alien 300Cfeature a compact yet robust design, advanced color mixing system, improved low-end dimming, IP55-rated panels, multiple power options, and efficient cooling technology.
Alien panels are the ultimate lighting solution for a wide range of applications. Whether it's an outdoor location in heavy rain, an indoor livestream shoot, or a small set requiring more flexibility, the Alien 150C and Alien 300C are dependable tools that help users achieve the results they want. These panels truly demonstrate Nanlite's continuous commitment to advancing lighting technology.
More Light, Less Weight
With flexibility, transportability, and weight demands in mind, the Nanlite team designed the Alien 150C and 300C with separate panel and control unit. The Alien 150C weighs just 3.6kg, and the Alien 300C only 6.6kg. These represent significant reductions of 13% and 45% respectively when compared to competing products on the market. This allows Alien panels to be easily mounted on cross arms or lightweight tripods.
The Alien 150C has a lighting area of 24.6 × 18 cm, and the Alien 300C measures 36 × 24.8 cm. Combined with the included softbox, they can create ideal soft lighting while maintaining a compact size.
Precise Optics, Illumination Excellence
The Alien Series adopts an advanced optical design, with excellent light mixing technology and alternatively placed and rotated WW and RGB light beads. This combination enables it to output a very bright and uniform beam.
Thanks to the combination of advanced optics and power, the Alien Series achieves astonishing performance. At 5600K, readings at one meter reach up to 13050 lux (Alien 150C) and 28630 lux (Alien 300C) respectively. Even with a softbox attached or diffused, there is still ample power.
Exceptional Color Accuracy
CRI: Average 96 TLCI: Average 97 TM-30 Rf: Average 94 TM-30 Rg: Average 100
Nanlite's exceptional RGBWW color mixing system ensures extraordinary light quality, allowing users to illuminate scenes with countless colors.
With a wide color temperature range from 2700K to 12000K and ±150 G/M adjustability, Alien 150C and Alien 300C can effortlessly match other light sources and simulate different times of day.
New Interface, Improved Efficiency
The Alien Series is equipped with Nanlite's next-generation user interface, aiming to provide creators with an unparalleled experience. By incorporating intuitive icons and minimizing textual information, the new interface can be clearly understood at a glance. The redesigned menu layout offers improved operational logic, assisting users in quickly finding necessary functions and seamlessly adjusting parameters.
In response to user demand for quick access to specific lighting settings, the Alien Series features a preset function, enabling rapid saving and recall of parameters. With this function, users can save a lot of time on parameter setup and have more time for production.
IP55 Rated Panel + Control Unit Rain Cover = Full Protection
To cope with all weather conditions and the uncertainties of on-set life, the Alien Series features an IP55-rated metal panel housing combined with a specially designed rain cover for the control unit. This full protection ensures that lighting requirements in rainy, snowy, or dusty environments are met, allowing users to tackle any on-set challenges.
Multiple Modes, Unlock Imagination
The Alien Series offers various modes. Regardless of the scenario or application, users can find the right solution with Alien's different modes.
CCT Mode: Reproduces various light colors with a color temperature range of 2700K to 12000K and ±150 green/magenta correction.
HSI Mode: Allows direct and quick adjustment of hue, saturation, and intensity, offering a wide selection of 36,000 colors.
RGBW Mode: Allows the user to independently select red, green, blue, and white channel values, creating a wide range of color combinations.
XY Coordinates: Achieves precise color control by adjusting XY coordinate values within the selected CIE 1931 color space area.
Gel Mode: Includes 460 gel filters from LEE and ROSCO, with an option to switch the main CCT, reproducing the lighting effects of traditional physical gels.
Effect Mode: Features 15 built-in lighting effects, each with customizable parameters, to allow for the creation of immersive lighting effects.
Comprehensive Reliable Controls
The Alien Series provides comprehensive wired and wireless control options, allowing users to choose their preferred control method and production requirements.
On-board Control: The 3.2-inch screen clearly displays options and icons. It features Nanlite's next-generation user interface with four buttons and three knobs.
Remote Control: The Alien Series has a built-in 2.4G module, allowing for quick and easy remote adjustments of basic settings.
Nanlink App 2.0 Control: With the new light scheduling feature and an improved interface, the Nanlink App 2.0 offers a more efficient and user-friendly experience for wireless lighting control.
Within the Nanlink App, users can control the Alien Series along with other Nanlite and Nanlux devices.
DMX/RDM Control: Equipped with 5-pin XLR DMX input and output ports, it supports DMX/RDM control via wired connection to a lighting console for precise and reliable group control.
LumenRadio CRMX: Alien 150C and Alien 300C are equipped with CRMX, enabling stable wireless DMX control.
Delicate Adjustment, More Than One Choice
The Alien Series offers three different dimming methods: users can choose 0.1% steps for precise light control across the entire range, 1% steps for quick adjustments, or 0.1% steps specifically for brightness below 10%, ensuring both smooth adjustment at low intensity and fast adjustments above 10% brightness.
Thanks to hardware upgrades and software improvements, the Alien Series now achieves superior linear dimming. Dimming remains smooth even at the lowest brightness levels from 0.0% to 1.0%, allowing easy simulation of the ramp-up process of traditional light sources.
With seven built-in DMX dimming curves and fifteen DMX modes, the Alien Series meets demanding control requirements for complex dimming rates and lighting setups.
Designed for Quiet Operation
When designing the Alien 150C and 300C, Nanlite engineers prioritized quiet operation and efficient heat dissipation from the LEDs. To achieve this, the back of the panel is entirely covered with an aluminum alloy heatsink and is cooled by a powerful airflow from dual fans. This improvement in heat dissipation allows for a further reduction in the size and weight of the cooling system, making the panels smaller and lighter.
Equipped with five fan modes (smart, full speed, low speed, pause, off), the Alien Series can meet a wide variety of shooting and audio recording needs. In smart mode, the average sound level is only 19 dB(A).
Additionally, when absolute silence is required, the newly added pause mode allows the fans to be temporarily turned off while the light continues to operate at 100% brightness.
*In SMART mode, the panel will automatically switch fan speed depending on the ambient temperature.
In SMART and FULL SPEED modes, maximum output is 100%.
In LOW SPEED mode, maximum output is 50%.
In PAUSE mode, maximum output is 100%. (When the panel reaches critical temperature, the fan will automatically switch to smart mode.)
In OFF mode, maximum output is 15%.
Flexible Power Choices
To handle complex and constantly changing on-set conditions, the Alien Series is equipped with reliable and flexible power options. Not only can it be connected to AC/DC power sources for continuous power, but it also allows the option of using 14.4V-14.8V or 26V-28V batteries for remote control. The Alien 150C only requires one V-mount battery for power, while the Alien 300C supports the mixed use of V-mount batteries with different voltages.
Both Alien 150C and Alien 300C support hot-swapping between different power options*. This allows seamless switching between power methods without interrupting their operation.
*The current intensity must be within the supported range of the selected power option during hot-swapping.
