About the product

Unrivaled AF performance for breathtaking shots
Fast, accurate autofocus captures fleeting moments in stunning detail thanks to a combination of innovative technologies. A total of 425 phase-detection AF points work together with contrast-detection AF to achieve an astounding 0.02-second focus speed, while high-density AF tracking technology tracks even erratically moving subjects.

Real-time tracking keeps your subject in steady focus
When tracking a fast-moving subject, the camera's automatic motion tracking uses an AI-based subject recognition algorithm that extracts color, pattern (brightness), subject distance (depth), and face/eye information to recognize and maintain focus on the subject.

Reliable Real-time Eye AF for better portrait shots
The camera's Real-time Eye AF system automatically detects and focuses on the subject's eyes when you press the shutter button halfway, and you can even prioritize the left or right eye. When AF-C is set, it maintains stable focus even when the face is partially obscured, backlit, or the subject is looking down.

High-speed continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking
Capture every moment of fast action with continuous shooting up to 11 fps, or 8 fps in silent shutter mode for up to 77 frames. Imaging lag is reduced, so even in live view mode, up to 8 fps can be accurately captured. Continuously shot images can be conveniently displayed in groups in playback mode.

Real-time Eye AF for animals
The subject recognition technology used in Real-time Eye AF has been adapted to support both animals and humans. When enabled, it provides fast, accurate automatic detection and tracking of animal eyes for better pet portraits and wildlife photos.

Accurate autofocus in low light
High-precision autofocus is also possible in dark conditions thanks to the camera's advanced AF algorithm. High AF sensitivity means reliable autofocus in AF-S down to EV -2.

Easy manual focusing with clearly visible peaking
When using manual focus, the camera will color the most sharply focused area of the entire image. Selectable high-contrast preview colors include blue, red, yellow, and white, providing clear visibility of focused areas when performing delicate focusing for macro or portrait shots.

Focus magnifier for finer focus adjustment in MF/AF modes
When truly precise focus is needed, such as in macro photography, you can engage a magnified view of the general area you wish to focus on. You can fine-tune the exact focus point using the touch screen or the focus point selector.

Versatile touch operations
The camera's LCD panel supports intuitive touch operations, such as touchpad (for smooth focus point movement), touch focus (to set a focus point), touch shutter (to release the shutter), and touch tracking (to activate Real-time AF).

Natural skin tones
The skin tone function, inherited from our latest, highly acclaimed full-frame cameras, captures the natural beauty of human skin tones and helps in taking the best possible portraits.

Stunning image quality, low noise, and wide ISO range
The camera has a wide sensitivity range from ISO 100 – 32,000, which can be extended to 51,200 for stills. Even when shooting at high sensitivity in low light, excellent low-noise performance ensures high-quality images. By selectively applying noise reduction and sharpness processing within the frame, area-specific noise reduction and detail reproduction technology contribute to reproducing subject textures and shadow details.

Innovative image processing system
The camera's APS-C size 24.2-megapixel Exmor™ CMOS sensor provides a wide sensitivity range and excellent low-noise performance. Together with the new-generation BIONZ X™ image processing system, it creates beautiful high-resolution images with incredible clarity and texture reproduction.

Creative Style and Picture Effects
With the camera's Creative Style function, you can select settings like "Vivid" or "Portrait" to give your photo a specific look and fine-tune exposure, contrast, color saturation, and sharpness. "Picture Effects" adds effects like "Partial Color" and "Miniature" to add creative nuances to your photos.

4K movie recording in high-bitrate XAVC S format
Super 35mm format, 4K movie recording with full pixel readout and no pixel binning allows oversampling of approximately 2.4x more image information than required for 4K (QFHD: 3840 x 2160). Downscaling from the equivalent of 6K resolution, captured videos possess even greater realism and depth. The high-bitrate XAVC S video codec (up to 100 Mbps for 4K 30p/24p) ensures professional-quality images in a consumer-friendly format.

14-bit RAW output for rich tonal gradation
High-performance LSI and the BIONZ X image processor create true 14-bit RAW images. To preserve smooth and natural tonal gradations, the entire processing process is performed in 16 bits, preventing any errors with simulated tone reproduction or processing in the final 14-bit RAW image. Stable, precise AF tracking for better movies
Fast Hybrid AF provides high speed, accuracy, and excellent tracking performance to meet the high demands of autofocus for 4K movies. AF tracking sensitivity can be adjusted for stable focus or adaptive refocusing depending on the nature of the scene, and touch tracking allows you to track a moving subject by simply touching the LCD screen.

Advanced capabilities for high-quality movie creation
The α6100 is ready for videography with clean HDMI output, variable frame rates, and proxy file recording. In addition, a number of features have been added to improve shooting accuracy for movies, such as displaying overlay markers or grids, zebra exposure metering, or ISO values when shooting with Auto ISO. It's also easy to extract still frames directly from your movies in playback mode.

Slow and Quick Motion and high-speed recording at 120 fps
Slow motion (up to 5x) and quick motion (up to 60x) video can be created in-camera without the need for post-production at up to Full HD resolution. In addition, Full HD recordings with high bit rates (up to 100 Mbps) and high frame rates (up to 120p) can be used to create slow motion movies in post-production.

Support for high-quality microphone and audio input
An external microphone can be connected directly via the camera's microphone jack, and you also have the option for line input and 48V phantom-powered input via the separately available XLR adapter kit. This allows for the connection of a wide range of high-end microphones for better audio in your movie recordings.

180° tilting LCD screen
The 3.0-inch LCD monitor has a resolution of 921,000 dots for a clear view of what you're shooting. It's designed to tilt up 180° and down 74° for easy vlogging and selfies, as well as more convenient shooting from low and high angles.
Interval shooting for time-lapse movies
Interval shooting with a set interval between 1 and 60 seconds is available in the camera, and the resulting still images can be processed into a time-lapse movie on a computer. A simple variable-speed preview function allows you to view images in the camera, showing how the finished movie will look.

Square aspect ratio tailored for social media
In addition to 3:2 and 16:9 (width to height) aspect ratios, you can also select a 1:1 ratio – ideal for sharing images on social media platforms. This means you no longer need to manually crop after shooting when planning to share photos.

Rating and deletion protection for still images
In playback mode, photos can be rated and protected from deletion. These functions can be accessed via pre-assigned custom keys.

User-friendly functions for smoother operation
Up to eight of the camera's buttons and controls can be customized with any of the 89 shooting and playback functions. The "My Menu" function allows flexible assignment of 30 menu items, and custom settings help keep track of everything. Useful guides for menu items are also available at the touch of a button on the menu screen.
Easy white balance settings control
Custom white balance setting is easy to set, and you can now choose a priority auto white balance setting when shooting under incandescent lighting – warmer priority for atmosphere or white priority for a cleaner white.
Diverse flash functions
When shooting with compatible wireless flashes, rear curtain sync and slow sync can be selected – part of the camera's range of creative lighting options.

One-touch remote, One-touch sharing, location information
The One-touch remote function allows you to use your mobile device as a viewfinder and remote control. One-touch sharing allows you to transfer photos and videos to a mobile device for social media sharing. The camera can also use your mobile phone's location data via Bluetooth® to geo-tag your images. (These mobile device functions are available through Sony's Imaging Edge mobile app.)
