About the product

Unrivaled AF performance for breathtaking shots
Fast, accurate autofocus captures fleeting moments in stunning detail thanks to a combination of innovative technologies. A total of 425 phase-detection AF points work together with contrast-detection AF to achieve an astonishing focus acquisition speed of 0.02 sec., while high-density AF tracking technology follows even erratically moving subjects.

Real-time Tracking keeps your subject in steady focus
When you're tracking a fast-moving subject, the camera's automatic motion tracker uses an AI subject recognition algorithm that extracts color, pattern (brightness), subject distance (depth), and face/eye information to recognize and maintain focus on your subject.

Reliable Real-time Eye AF for better portrait shots
The camera's Real-time Eye AF system detects and automatically focuses on the subject's eyes when you press the shutter button halfway, and you can even prioritize the left or right eye. When AF-C is set, it maintains steady focus even when the face is partially obscured, backlit, or the subject is looking down.

High-speed continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking
Capture every moment of the fast action with continuous shooting up to 11 fps, or 8 fps in silent shutter mode for up to 77 frames. Display lag is reduced, so even in live view mode, up to 8 fps15 can be precisely captured. Continuously shot images can be conveniently displayed in groups in playback mode.

Real-time Eye AF for animals
The subject recognition technology used in Real-time Eye AF was adapted to support both animals and humans. When enabled, it provides fast, precise automatic detection and tracking of animal eyes for better pet portraits and wildlife photos.

Accurate autofocus in low light
High-precision autofocus is also possible in dark conditions thanks to the camera's advanced AF algorithm. High AF sensitivity means reliable autofocus in AF-S down to EV -2.

Easy manual focusing with clearly visible peaking
When using manual focus, the camera will color the most sharply focused area of the entire image. Selectable high-contrast preview colors include blue, red, yellow, and white, providing clear visibility of focused areas when performing delicate focusing for macro or portrait shots.

Focus Magnifier for finer focus adjustment in MF/AF modes
When truly precise focus is required, such as in macro shots, you can turn on an enlarged view of the general area you want to focus on. You can fine-tune the exact focus point using the touchscreen or the focus point selector.

Versatile touch operations
The camera's LCD panel supports intuitive touch operations, such as touchpad (for smooth focus point movement), touch focus (to set focus point), touch shutter (to release shutter), and touch tracking (to activate real-time AF).

Natural skin tones
The skin tone function, inherited from our latest highly acclaimed full-frame cameras, captures the natural beauty of human skin tones and helps in shooting the best possible portraits.

Stunning image quality, low noise, and wide ISO range
The camera has a wide sensitivity range of ISO 100-32,000, expandable to 51,200 for stills. Even when shooting at high sensitivity in low light, excellent low-noise performance ensures high-quality images. By selectively applying noise reduction and sharpness processing within the frame, area-specific noise reduction and detail reproduction technology contribute to reproducing subject textures and shadow details.

Innovative image processing system
The camera's 24.2-megapixel APS-C size Exmor™ CMOS sensor provides a wide sensitivity range and excellent low-noise performance. Together with the next-generation BIONZ X™ image processing system, it creates beautiful high-resolution images with incredible clarity and texture reproduction.

Creative style and "Picture Effects"
With the camera's Creative Style function, you can select settings like "Vivid" or "Portrait" to give your photo a specific look and fine-tune exposure, contrast, color saturation, and sharpness. "Picture Effects" apply effects like "Partial Color" and "Miniature" to add creative nuances to your photos.

High-bit-rate XAVC S format 4K movie recording
Super 35mm format, 4K movie recording with full pixel readout and no pixel binning allows oversampling of approximately 2.4x20 more image information than needed for 4K (QFHD: 3840 x 2160). Downscaling from the equivalent of 6K resolution, recorded videos possess even greater realism and depth. The high-bitrate21 XAVC S video codec (up to 100 Mbps for 4K 30p/24p) ensures professional-quality images in a consumer format.

14-bit RAW output for rich tonal gradation
High-performance LSI and the BIONZ X image processor create true 14-bit RAW images. To preserve soft and natural tonal gradations, the entire processing workflow is performed in 16 bits, preventing any errors with simulated tone reproduction or processing in the final 14-bit RAW image. Stable, precise AF tracking for better movies
Fast Hybrid AF provides high speed, accuracy, and excellent tracking performance to meet the high demands for autofocus in 4K movies. AF tracking sensitivity can be adjusted for steady focus or adaptive re-focusing depending on the nature of the scene, and touch tracking allows you to track a moving subject by simply touching the LCD screen.

Advanced features for high-quality film creation
The α6100 is ready for videography with clean HDMI output, variable frame rates, and proxy file recording. In addition, a number of features have been added to improve shooting accuracy for film, such as displaying overlay markers or grids, zebra exposure metering, or ISO values when shooting with ISO Auto. It is also easy to extract still frames directly from your movies in playback mode.

Slow and Quick Motion and high-speed recording at 120 fps
Slow motion (up to 5x) and quick motion (up to 60x) video can be created in-camera without the need for post-production at up to Full HD resolution. In addition, Full HD recordings with high bitrate (up to 100 Mbps) and high frame rate (up to 120p) can be used to create slow-motion movies in post-production.

Support for high-quality microphone and audio input
An external microphone can be connected directly via the camera's microphone jack, and you also have the option for line input and 48V phantom powered input via the separately available XLR adapter kit. This allows for connecting a wide range of high-end microphones for better audio in your movie recordings.

180° tiltable LCD screen
The 3.0-inch LCD monitor has a 921,000-dot resolution for clear viewing of what you're shooting. It is designed to tilt up 180° and down 74° for easy vlogging and selfies, as well as more convenient low and high-angle shooting.
Interval shooting for time-lapse movies
Interval shooting with a set interval between 1 and 60 seconds is available in-camera, and the resulting still images can be processed into a time-lapse movie on a computer. A simple variable-speed preview function allows you to view images in-camera showing what the finished movie will look like.

Square aspect ratio, suited for social media
In addition to 3:2 and 16:9 (width to height) aspect ratios, you can also choose a 1:1 ratio – ideal for sharing images on social media platforms. This means you will no longer need to crop manually after shooting when planning to share photos.

Rating and erase protection for still images
In playback mode, photos can be rated and protected from deletion. These functions can be accessed via pre-assigned custom keys.

Custom functions for smoother operation
Up to eight of the camera's buttons and controls can be customized with any of 89 shooting and playback functions. The "My Menu" function allows flexible assignment of 30 menu items, and custom settings help keep track of everything. Helpful menu item guides are also available with a single touch of a button on the menu screen.
Easy control of white balance settings
Custom white balance is easy to set, and you can now choose a priority auto white balance setting when shooting under incandescent lighting – a warmer priority for atmosphere or a white priority for a cleaner white.
Diverse flash functions
When shooting with compatible wireless flashes, rear curtain sync and slow sync can be selected – part of the camera's range of creative lighting options.

One-touch remote, one-touch sharing, location information
The One-touch remote function allows you to use your mobile device as a viewfinder and remote control. One-touch sharing allows you to transfer photos and videos to a mobile device for sharing on social networks. The camera can also use your mobile phone's location data via Bluetooth® to geotag your images. (These mobile device functions are available via the Sony Imaging Edge mobile app.)
