Portrait Studio Photography with Georgi Nedelchev
On July 11 and 12, Dynaphos hosted a Studio Photography workshop, led by Georgi Nedelchev – a natural continuation after laying the foundation with the Studio Photography workshop two weeks prior.
The theoretical part introduced participants to the psychology of portrait photography, perspective, and the choice of a portrait lens.
Afterward, everyone had access to the studio for practical learning and testing everything that was presented in an understandable way – different portrait lighting setups, when each is suitable, and so on. Of course – all with precise light meter measurements. Everyone had the opportunity to work with a model and test the different setups.
Some shots from the process, as well as shots from the participants themselves, can be seen in the gallery.
The second day was quite interesting and definitely more fun. Radina Petrova started with professional explanations about makeup: why it's essential for a model in the studio, what we need to know about it, and how and what type of makeup is applied.
Then the more interesting and challenging part began. Radina turned out to be celebrating her birthday and had prepared various accessories to break up the atmosphere and provide more opportunities for the participants. It became clear that everyone would have enough time with the model – to set up a scheme, composition, and work with Radina according to their vision. She proved to be an extremely patient model and, despite the challenging work of collaborating with so many photographers… endured with a smile until the end. She gladly cooperated in everything, as she also has photographic training and is aware of the challenges on both sides of the camera.
Captured moments during the practical sessions can be seen in the gallery.
In addition to the essential Sekonic SpeedMaster L-858D light meter, which combines the most options for precise and accurate light measurement, the following were also used for the workshop:
Dynaphos Speedster QT600II Studio Flashes

In the gallery, we also present some unedited shots of the participants from their moments of working with the model in the studio.
