Two-day workshop – studio photography with Georgi Nedelchev
On June 27 and 28, Dynaphos hosted an interesting Studio Photography workshop, led by Georgi Nedelchev, aimed at everyone who wants to get into studio photography or wants to set up a home photo studio. Georgi Nedelchev needs no further introduction. He definitely possesses the ability to explain complex material simply and accessibly to beginners, which is an undeniable fact. Suffice it to say that everyone left satisfied and shared that the training exceeded their expectations.
The theoretical part introduced participants to the types of studio lighting, the functions of the studio flash, and the differences in proportionality between the impulse and pilot lamps.
The first practical exercise was dedicated to measuring light in the studio and shadow contrast. This complex subject for all beginners was presented in an extremely accessible way, and all workshop participants had the opportunity and time to precisely determine the desired outcome.
The assistant here was the Sekonic SpeedMaster L-858D – a light meter that combines the latest technologies and offers the most options for precise and accurate light measurement.
The sessions on the second day were entirely in the studio. Workshop participants determined background brightness and learned the subtleties of measuring backlighting, combining backgrounds of different brightness with backlighting, and… t0.1 versus t0.5.
All participants had the opportunity to ask their questions and practice their new knowledge sufficiently. By the end of the day, there were no longer any secrets in setting up the desired lighting and working with a light meter.
Also available in the studio were:
Dynaphos Speedster QT600II Studio Flash
Godox Witstro AD600Pro Portable Battery-Powered TTL Monolight
Before leaving, everyone expressed their desire for a next workshop – Portrait Photography in the Studio. The knowledge from the past weekend certainly provided a solid foundation for their more successful upgrading, and Georgi Nedelchev promised everyone to consider holding it as soon as possible and just slightly opened the door… to what lies ahead.
This happened quickly, and on July 11-12, Dynaphos will also host Georgi Nedelchev's next workshop – Portrait Studio Photography.

We also share some opinions from the participants:
Tanya Naydenova:
Thanks to Georgi Nedelchev for the great course! He lifted the curtain on studio photography and revealed the meaning of every light in the photographic studio. He dressed the effects of light in concrete numbers and showed us exactly how to achieve the desired effect. He proved in practice that a shot does not need hours of processing when you master light and know exactly what you want.
Thank him for sharing his knowledge and experience with us, accumulated over the years with much effort, in the form of ready-made algorithms and values! I haven't had a more fruitful weekend in a long time. I eagerly await the next course. I hope the group gets together again and we have fun together!

I highly recommend to every beginner photographer who plans to shoot in a studio or set up a home studio to attend the seminar with Georgi Nedelchev. At this seminar, I gained basic knowledge about lighting, as well as how to model light to achieve the desired result. In these two days, knowledge and experience were synthesized in an understandable language, presented with exceptional ease by Mr. Nedelchev. I am eagerly awaiting the next seminar!
Albena Lyutskanova:
Studio photography is a great challenge for me. I usually photograph birds and wild animals, which requires completely different equipment and photographic skills, but for some time now I have been strongly attracted to portraits and studio shooting. After the course with Georgi Nedelchev, I received answers to many questions. Thank him very much for the synthesized information and the way he presents it! I will be looking forward to the continuation.
