SIGMA 14mm F1.4 DG DN

The world's first and only* lens that combines a 14mm ultra-wide angle with a maximum aperture of F1.4.

Everything for the best astrophotography and nightscapes.

The stars in the sky are a source of inspiration for viewers. On the other hand, the starry sky is a very demanding subject for a wide-angle lens, with its numerous small point light sources spread across the entire image. The 14mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is the widest F1.4 prime lens*, born from our engineers' passion to capture the widest, brightest, highest resolution, and most captivating starry sky possible. Thanks to SIGMA's latest technology, the lens combines a 14mm ultra-wide angle with a maximum F1.4 aperture. In addition, SIGMA's optical element manufacturing technology achieved high quality with comprehensive correction of sagittal coma flare, specialized features for astrophotography, and high-speed AF with a linear motor HLA (High-response Linear Actuator).

The Milky Way stretching across the night sky, twinkling stars emerging above ridge lines — the 14mm F1.4 DG DN | Art can turn this into a pictorial image that surpasses the real photographic experience. Its proven capability in astrophotography will open new possibilities for photographers to express themselves visually and enjoy all scenes, including daytime landscapes, architecture, and indoor photography in dark and confined spaces.

* Excluding fisheye lenses, as interchangeable lenses for mirrorless and DSLR cameras as of today by SIGMA.

Key Features

1. Ultra-wide 14mm lens with maximum F1.4 aperture and exceptional optical quality.

This world-class quality was achieved by applying the best of SIGMA's optical technologies, from engineering design to the optical element manufacturing process. 19 elements in 15 groups, including 1 SLD glass element, 3 FLD glass elements, and 4 aspherical optical elements, form a luxurious optical configuration. This allows for advanced aberration correction and a high degree of precision in the lens construction. The perfect optical technology allows for both advanced aberration correction and the achievement of an F1.4 aperture. In particular, sagittal coma flare, which distorts the shape of stars, is carefully corrected, and even at the widest aperture, the lens provides high reproducibility of reality from the center to the very periphery of the image. Ghosting and flares are also meticulously corrected, both through optical design and special lens coatings. This allows for clear and sharp capture of starry skies and night scenes. Optimized for astrophotography, which demands extremely high quality, this lens delivers images that exceed expectations in every scene, including landscapes, architectural photography, portraits, and indoor photography.

2. Abundance of features and accessories for astrophotography

The 14mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is equipped with numerous features to facilitate astrophotography.

- Tripod Collar

Includes a detachable tripod collar compatible with Arca-Swiss standard. Since the center of gravity of the 14mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is shifted forward, attaching it via the tripod collar helps mount it more stably on a tripod. Its shape is designed to prevent imbalance even when using a heater to prevent condensation on the optics.

- MFL switch (Manual Focus Lock).

A switch to lock manual focus in a desired position. Prevents focus shift caused by unintentional activation of the focus ring. This is useful for long exposure photography, etc., where focus needs to be fixed.

- Lens Heater Retainer

A retainer at the front of the lens that prevents the lens heater* from being moved forward and causing vignetting at the periphery of the frame.

*A belt-shaped heater wrapped around the lens to prevent condensation inside the lens at lower ambient temperatures.

- Rear Filter Holder

A rear filter holder is provided as standard equipment on the lens mount for attaching a sheet-type rear filter. A locking mechanism is also provided to prevent the filter from falling out.

- Dedicated Front Cap with Locking Mechanism and Filter Slots

Includes a cap-type front cap with a locking mechanism. It also has newly designed filter pockets where two rear filters can be stored depending on the application. The cap is specially designed for the 14mm F1.4 DG DN | Art to protect sheet filters from scratches and dirt, while ensuring they are not forgotten and are always available with the lens.

3. Features and high build quality – symbols of the Sigma Art Line lens series

In addition to functions specifically designed for astrophotography, the lens is equipped with various features to aid shooting, including an AFL button to which any function normally controlled by the camera can be assigned, and an aperture control ring. The lens barrel is moisture and dust-resistant, and the front optical element of the lens is coated with water and oil-repellent coating, so you can confidently shoot outdoors and in harsh outdoor conditions. The HLA motor (High-response Linear Actuator) enables high-speed, quiet, and highly accurate autofocus. The construction of this lens has a robust internal structure and uses lightweight materials such as TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) polycarbonate, which has a thermal shrinkage rate equivalent to that of aluminum, and magnesium in appropriate places to reduce weight while ensuring its strength. The lens body boasts the high build quality characteristic of the Art line series, allowing the user to fully enjoy the unique performance of the lens in any environment, including astrophotography.
