This brand new full-frame premium compact prime for mirrorless systems is the latest addition to SIGMA's "I" series. It combines a large maximum aperture of F2, an ultra-wide focal length of 20mm, and stunning optical quality. The lens boasts an exceptionally small form factor, weighing only 370 grams and measuring just 72.4 cm in length*, making it extremely practical and easy to carry for everyday shooting. It is ideal for landscapes, wide-angle portraits, weddings, and interiors, and is particularly suited for astrophotography due to its very well-controlled sagittal coma. This is the fourth lens in the "I" series with a maximum aperture of F2, and with 24mm, 35mm, and 65mm, they form a well-matched set of lenses for L-Mount and Sony E-mount users.

2. New standards for optical performance for Contemporary series lenses

The 20mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary achieves the highest levels of optical quality even at its maximum aperture of F2 from the center to the periphery of the image. Based on the latest optical design technology, the lens construction includes three high-precision glass aspherical elements, one SLD element, and one FLD element to suppress a range of optical aberrations. The result is clear and sharp images even in the extreme corners of the image. By focusing on suppressing sagittal coma, which is difficult to correct in post-processing, accurate reproduction of very bright light points has been achieved, which is particularly important for night sky photography.

The optical design of the lens, its super multi-layer coating, and nano-porous coating (NPC), ensure minimal flares and ghosting, even when shooting against bright light sources. This makes it much easier to capture backlit subjects and still achieve impressive results with high contrast.

All lenses in the "I" series feature an all-metal construction. Precisely cut aluminum parts not only give the body a sleek and stylish finish but also provide superior durability that enhances the quality of the entire product. Metal is also used in the internal structure for added strength. Such high-precision components, manufactured with SIGMA's advanced metalworking technology, are also used in SIGMA's CINE LENS range for professional cinematographers and provide an ergonomic feel that brings pleasure to using the lens.
