The EOS R3 features a new Canon-developed BSI CMOS sensor, a powerful DIGIC X image processor, 30fps shooting capabilities with AF/AE tracking, eye, head, and body detection, and an innovative new Eye Control Autofocus function. Five things to know about the new EOS R3:

HIGH QUALITY AND SPEED

The EOS R3 is the first EOS camera to feature an all-new 35mm back-illuminated CMOS sensor - developed by Canon. Combined with the power of its DIGIC X image processor, professionals using the EOS R3 will achieve next-level high-speed photography and video creation. Using the camera, they can enjoy 30 frames per second with AF/AE tracking with minimal image distortion when using the electronic shutter – ideal for professional sports photographers challenged with capturing split-second action.

EXCEPTIONAL TRACKING OF FAST-MOVING SUBJECTS

Professionals can push the boundaries of creativity with exceptionally accurate tracking and focusing of fast-moving action. The EOS R3's next-generation Dual Pixel CMOS AF can track the eyes, heads, and bodies of subjects moving at speed - excellent for capturing even the finest details in split seconds. What's more, Canon reveals that it will add a new type of subject to the camera's AF tracking.

EYE CONTROL AUTOFOCUS

The EOS R3 will also feature new and improved technology first seen in the Canon EOS 5. This is the first EOS digital camera to provide a new generation of photographers with an innovative Eye Control Function, which allows users to select and move the AF point using their eye in the viewfinder. This intuitive function offers professionals natural and fast control over autofocus. By reducing the focusing time, which is usually done with a multi-controller or button, this function is again ideal for photographers who want to capture the most important subject for their shot with speed - whether it's during a press conference or photographing a team sport.

BUILT FOR PROFESSIONALS

Inspired by the EOS-1D series, the EOS R3 body allows ultra-intuitive control in the most demanding professional situations. FAST CONNECTION – INTRODUCING THE NEW CANON MOBILE FILE TRANSFER

The EOS R3 will be fully compatible with the Canon Mobile File Transfer mobile application. This provides a new way to transfer images and speed up workflow while on the go, using mobile network services, without the need for wired LAN equipment.

Canon is releasing version 1.2 of its Mobile File Transfer for iOS via the Apple App Store in June, which is compatible with the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III, EOS R5, and EOS R6. Android support will be added in the future.

Today Canon also introduces the RF 100mm f/2.8L MACRO IS USM - an impressive macro and portrait lens, which is the world's first AF macro lens with 1.4x close-up magnification. In addition, Canon also revealed details about the new RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM and RF 600mm f/4L IS USM, two telephoto lenses designed to meet the demands of sports and wildlife professionals, with incredible focal length and capabilities, especially when combined with the EOS R3.
