New software version for Sony ZV-1
Today, Sony introduced new software for the Sony ZV-1, which allows direct live streaming and online communication via a computer (PC, Mac) or a compatible Xperia smartphone* using only a USB connection. I remind you that until now, this was done by additionally installing Imaging Edge Webcam, and a connection was only possible with a computer.
Some of the main advantages of using the ZV-1 as a camera for live streaming are:
- Easy and quick connection of the camera to a computer or Xperia smartphone without installing additional programs – only the USB cable provided with the camera is needed.
- High-quality video and sound – increased resolution up to 1280x720 and the ability to use the camera's built-in microphone.
- Ability to stream live in high quality from the event location via connection with a compatible Xperia smartphone*.
- Achieving a more beautiful image with shallower depth of field thanks to the camera's 1" sensor and bright f/1.8-2.8 lens.
- Use of tracking autofocus with eye/face recognition.
- Use of optical zoom.
- Compatibility with applications allowing live streaming – OBS Studio, Twitch Studio, YouTube Live, Facebook Live.
- Compatibility with online communication applications – Zoom, Teams, WebEx, Skype, Google Meet.
To use it, you need to update the software version of your device. You can find it here, along with a step-by-step guide on how to install it.
*Xperia smartphones that currently allow direct connection to the ZV-1 are Xperia 1 II and Xperia 5 II, updated with Android 11.
