RED Digital Cinema, Inc., a Nikon Corporation subsidiary, is introducing the new Z CINEMA cinema cameras: V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount and KOMODO-X Z Mount. Both high-performance digital cinema cameras are compatible with Nikon's Z mount, enabling filmmakers to utilize Nikon's extensive lineup of NIKKOR Z lenses and NIKKOR F-mount lenses. This opens up new possibilities for creativity and shooting flexibility.

V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount and KOMODO-X Z Mount are the first in the new Z CINEMA series of digital cinema cameras, which unite the reliable technologies of Nikon and RED. Offering cinematic image quality, both new cameras support Nikon's Z mount and utilize RED's color science and outstanding high-efficiency image compression technology. Each camera also offers improved autofocus, and the Z mount provides filmmakers with greater flexibility for visual expression with an unprecedented range of lens options.

With its large diameter and short flange distance, the Z mount supports the use of high-resolution NIKKOR Z lenses, which deliver remarkable sharpness and excellent aberration control, enabling exceptional clarity to the edges of the frame. Filmmakers will also be able to pair their Z CINEMA camera with the FTZ II mount adapter and use NIKKOR F-mount lenses, including popular vintage lenses from the AI NIKKOR series onwards. Both new cameras will also support the NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ Power-zoom cinema lens.

Nikon aims to further expand the possibilities for visual expression in the cinematic field as it continues to seek new levels of optical performance in response to the needs of its community. Filmmakers can only expect good things from this new synergy between Nikon and RED.

Z CINEMA is a series of digital cinema cameras that combine Nikon and RED technologies.

V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount: RED's groundbreaking flagship camera is now available with a Z mount. The V-RAPTOR [X] is renowned for its unparalleled low-light performance, dynamic range, resolution, high frame rate, and industry-leading 8K VV global shutter large format sensor. Equipped with RED's Global Vision (a suite of tools powered by the global shutter sensor and designed to capture organic and natural images), the camera achieves a dynamic range of up to 20+ stops in expanded highlight mode. Colors and details in highlights are effectively captured, and smoother, more delicate tones can be realized even in challenging lighting and environmental conditions.

KOMODO-X Z Mount: The KOMODO-X is now available with a Z mount. This compact digital cinema camera features a 6K Super 35 global shutter sensor with wide dynamic range and high-speed performance. It offers 6K recording at up to 80 fps and 4K recording at up to 120 fps. RED's custom color science, built on 20 years of experience in the cinematic market, delivers beautiful, film-quality images. The camera also supports RED's proprietary R3D Redcode RAW video data format, which is efficient, easy to manage in editing, and offers superior flexibility in grading.

RED Z to PL Adapter Packs: The RED Z to PL and RED Z to PL with Electronic ND adapter packs are optional mount adapters that allow the use of PL-mount lenses with the V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount and KOMODO-X Z Mount cameras.¹
