Annual Photography Contest - "Matter and Light"
Dynaphos, in partnership with Foto-Forum, is organizing an annual Photography Competition on the theme:
“Matter and Light”
Even ordinary everyday objects can take on a very different look when viewed from an unusual angle, composition, and lighting. Skillful play with light and shadow can create various graphic effects, dramatic contrasts, and illusions. The task of this competition is Still life photography, which combines creative and technical approaches from still life and product photography.
Criteria:
The main factor forming a good photographic achievement is not just the sum of correctly used expressive means, but the connection between the subject of the picture, the idea, and the technical interpretation. The main focus of this competition is the skillful handling of artificial lighting when shooting object compositions. The mastery of working with different light sources, the artistic merits of the photos, and their originality will be evaluated.
Competition terms and conditions:
Participants in the photo competition must comply with the terms and conditions of the rules outlined below:
- By participating in this competition, the participant declares that they are familiar with its rules and agree to abide by them.
- Both amateur and professional photographers can participate in the competition. The competition is not anonymous and has no age restrictions. Photographers of all nationalities can participate.
- Participants guarantee that they are the authors of the images with which they participate in the photo competition and hold the copyrights for them.
- Awarded authors must be prepared to provide a raw file, negative, or slide of the photograph to prove their authorship.
- The organizers reserve the right to use the awarded photos from the photo competition in promotional materials related to the promotion and subsequent coverage of the event.
- The organizers are not allowed to provide the photos to other parties without the author's consent.
Photo Competition Deadline:
The competition begins on 07.11.2012 and ends on 07.11.2013. After the completion of the photo competition, a photo exhibition will be presented with selected works from the participants. The photos will be printed in 60x40cm size. The date of the event will be announced later.
Requirements and participation mechanism:
Authors need to upload their photos to a special gallery on the Foto-Forum website for the "Matter and Light" competition. Photos with a rating above 50 points voted by the public enter the monthly evaluation ranking by the competition jury. Authors with photos rated above 50 points need to send their files to the email address: konkurs@dynaphos.com, within 5 days after each 11th of the month. Authors who do not meet this deadline will not be included in the ranking. Photos can be color or black and white, image editing software intervention is allowed. Photos must have a resolution of no less than 3000 px on the longer side and not exceed 10MB. The color space should be RGB in jpeg or tiff format. Participants can participate each month with up to three photos that match the competition theme. Files should be described as follows: first and last name and file number, for example: ivan_ivanov_01, ivan_ivanov_02, ivan_ivanov_03... The deadline for submitting photographs is 07.11.2013.
Stages and judging
The works of the participants in the photo competition will be judged by a jury composed of: Temelko Temelkov, Lyubomir Sergeev, Boni Bonev, Boris Bishkov, and Hristo Kabadayev.
The competition will proceed in 12 stages, each lasting one month (from the 7th to the 7th of the following month), and the gallery will remain open for voting until the 11th of the month. After the end of each stage, by the 30th of the month, the jury will select three photos (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) that were submitted within the respective one-month period and have a rating above 50 points. The author of the first-place photo for each stage will receive a voucher for purchasing goods from Dynaphos. Also, each month the photo that has collected the most points will receive an audience award. At the end of the photo competition, the winner will be chosen from the authors selected during the 12 stages. The photos ranked in each individual stage will participate in the selection for the final photo exhibition. The organizers reserve the right for the jury to add photos to the final selection for the photo exhibition that were not selected during the months. At the opening of the photo exhibition, the jury will announce the winner of the photo competition.
