Water is the protagonist in Canon Water Challenge photo contest
Photography enthusiasts and photo lovers who value water as one of the most important natural resources are invited to participate in Canon's new photo contest and win an EOS R10 kit with an RF-S 18-45mm 4.5/6.3 IS STM lens. The winner will also benefit from an exclusive trip to Istanbul and a personal mentoring session with Canon Ambassador Lorenz Holder.
Sofia, Bulgaria, November 1, 2022 – Today Canon CEE announced its annual contest, where photographers can showcase their keen eye, creative flair, and technical skills in capturing water in its wildest form. Participation in the contest is free, and all amateur photographers are invited to submit their water-inspired photos. Photographers are encouraged to "be inspired by water" and capture it with precision and artistic sensibility to tell a unique water photo story. This year's theme allows participants to observe water in its purest form and capture its exquisite appearance in a photograph taken with detail and technical skill.
The "Be Inspired by Water" theme makes water the main protagonist and invites photography enthusiasts to explore the dazzling essence and purity of water. Canon challenges participants to be creative, find inspiration in a unique water scene, and capture the moment with a deep sense of water's tenderness and grace – with or without human presence in the shot. This could be a water scene frozen in time, a photograph of strong human emotion highlighted by water, or the tranquility of water in nature.
To create a prize-winning photograph, participants can shoot day or night, indoors or outdoors, use different light sources, reflections and refractions, freeze the action or create optical illusions. To enter the contest, applicants must submit an image with a resolution of at least 150 dpi and a size of at least 2000 pixels on the long side no later than December 12, 2022. The image must not be heavily edited or manipulated. Participants cannot submit images that have previously won or been awarded a prize. The winner will be selected between December 13 and December 23, 2022 by a jury including Canon Ambassador Lorenz Holder, and will be announced at the end of December. The winner will receive a Canon EOS R10 kit with an RF-S 18-45mm 4.5/6.3 IS STM lens (worth over 1000 EUR) and a personal mentoring session with Canon Ambassador Lorenz Holder.
The contest's ambassador, Lorenz Holder, is a renowned photographer and multiple Red Bull Illume award winner. Lorenz lives in Freising, Germany, and specializes in sports photography, as well as landscape and architectural photography. The contest winner will meet Lorenz in Istanbul for a personal mentoring session to capture Istanbul's breathtaking waterscapes and treasures with the new EOS R10 mirrorless camera.
The Canon EOS R10, which is also the grand prize, is an incredibly versatile camera that can handle almost anything – including water splashes in their perfect form – and be the perfect partner for realizing creative and artistic ideas.
The contest is open for submissions from 00:01 BST on November 1 to 23:59 on December 12, 2022.
