Firmware Update for LUMIX S1H
RAW Video Data Output via HDMI
Panasonic announces that it will release a firmware update program for the LUMIX S1H full-frame mirrorless camera to further enhance its functionality and usability, as announced last September.
Developed in cooperation with Atomos, a global company that creates video equipment for professional film production, the new firmware enables the output of RAW video data via HDMI, up to 5.9K/29.97p and 59.94p 4K*, to be recorded as Apple ProRes RAW on the Atomos Ninja V 4K HDR monitor-recorder. Support for 3.5K Anamorphic 4:3 video is also included. Committed to providing innovative solutions for professional film production, Panasonic is making this firmware available to all S1H users free of charge.
The program will be available on May 25, 2020, at the LUMIX Global Customer Support website:

* 4128x2176(17:9), announced as “C4K” at IBC2019. Corresponds to C4K (4096×2160) as defined by DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives).

- V-Log or Rec.709 can be selected on the Live View monitor during RAW output.
- Various shooting assist functions, including WFM (Wave Form Monitor), Vector Scope, Luminance Spot Meter, and Zebra Pattern, can be used during RAW output.
2. Enhanced video functions / improved operability
- Down-converted output over HDMI during [6K]/[5.9K]/[5.4K] video recording is enabled.
- It is possible to disable the start/stop of video recording with the shutter button in Creative Video mode.
- It is possible to set [Rec Quality (My List)] from the control panel in Creative Video mode.
- The noise reduction level in [V-Log] from Photo Style has been expanded to [-1]. This suppresses residual images that were previously observed in some situations.
- It is possible to stop the enlarged screen output from MF Assist over HDMI.
- There were situations where posterization was observed when recording 4:2:0/10-bit video. This issue has been minimized.
- In some cases, the time code set for [REC RUN] was not counted when video was not being recorded to an SD card but was recorded to an external device via HDMI. This issue has been resolved.
3. Other added functions / improvements
- [AF+MF] can be activated in AFC (Continuous Autofocus) mode.
- It is possible to assign functions to the lens Fn buttons when a Panasonic LUMIX S PRO 70-200mm F2.8 O.I.S. (S-E70200) lens is mounted.
- It is possible to assign functions to the Fn buttons of L-Mount interchangeable Sigma lenses.
- When a lens is mounted via a Sigma MC-21 mount converter and [Image Stabilizer] > [Lens] is set to ON, the in-body Image Stabilizer (Body I.S.) suppresses circular motion.
- [Backlight Illumination Period] has been added to the LCD status display menu. The [ON1] setting prevents the LCD backlight from turning off.
- It is possible to select the card slot where JPEG images obtained from in-camera RAW processing will be saved.
- [0.5 SEC] has been added as a possible setting for [Duration Time (photo)] in [Auto Review].
- The [Off (Disable Press and Hold)] function can be assigned to an Fn button. This disables operations when the button is pressed and held.
- An Fn button can be used to check the aperture setting effect while pressed.
- To prevent accidental operation, touch control is disabled for the [Delete All] function in playback mode. Only cursor buttons can be used for this function.
- There were cases where, under certain conditions, including the type of SD card used, the camera could "freeze" during [Segmented File Recording] or 400 Mbps recording. This issue has been resolved.
- Aperture and shutter speed can be adjusted with the front/rear dial when the rear monitor is off.
- There were cases where, depending on the maximum aperture, it was not possible to adjust the aperture when using a non-Panasonic L-Mount lens. This issue has been resolved.
