Overview
The Softie Windshield & Shockmount system offers a practical and cost-effective solution for ENG (Electronic News Gathering) on camera microphones. It consists of a slip-on foam windshield with a fitted fur cover, providing up to 25dB wind noise reduction and protection for the microphone. The system also includes a shockmount with a bracket and options for a pistol grip handle or boom adaptor.
The Softie Mount, available in three sizes, is a one-piece rubber diaphragm shockmount that can support short to medium length shotgun microphones. However, it is not suitable for tapered microphones. The longest Softie Windshields have an internal bore of 32cm and are recommended for use with microphones such as the AKG CK68 or Audio Technica AT815b. For longer microphones, a full windshield system and modular suspension are recommended.
