Samyang 85mm f/1.4 UMC for Canon RF portrait review
One of the most active photographers in the Bulgarian web space, Niki Pandev, has once again shared footage and feedback on a Samyang lens with us. This time, it's for Samyang's first lens for Canon EOS R – the Samyang 85mm F1.4 UMC for Canon RF.
Niki has been using the extremely flexible Canon EOS R system for months and we can see wonderful results. You can view his impressive shots on his FB page Pandevonium or on Instagram pandevonium_images. He creates in various genres; travel photography is definitely his passion, but now he provides us with portrait shots he took with the lens.
Niki definitely has experience with Samyang lenses. We asked him to share his impressions, and they were: The lens is great. Yes, a bit "soft" wide open, but it's a super portrait lens for its price! Sharp throughout the frame and in the corners. The challenge is the manual aperture and focus, which makes it unusable for fast-moving subjects, but in studio conditions and a controlled environment for product, still life, food photography, it's very good. With the R or RP, for which it was designed, thanks to the focus guide, working with the lens is relatively easy, even with manual focus, but shooting children will be a challenge. Colors and bokeh – SUPER.
