Dynaphos Light Class 003: Manual Flashguns
Manual flashes are an essential photographic tool. They are mobile, compact, and can literally be carried in a pocket before being directly attached to your camera to deliver precisely the light you need for shooting. How to navigate the variety of Godox manual flashes? To be your guide through the information field and help you with your choice, the founder of Dynaphos Hristo Kabadayev stands in front of the camera for the third episode of our educational videos Dynaphos Light Class.
Godox TT685 Generation II
This is a standard-sized manual flash, but even with it, complex lighting setups can be created. It is powered by 4 AA batteries. Among its improvements is the TTL mode (TTL tells the flash how to fire). It also works in manual and multi modes. This flash can operate as a master when controlling other flashes, and as a slave when controlled by the Godox X system. This flash is available for various camera brands: Godox TT685IIC Flash for Canon, Godox TT685IIN Flash for Nikon, Godox TT685IIS Flash for Sony, Godox TT685IIO Flash for Olympus-Panasonic, Godox TT685IIF Flash for Fujifilm TTL.
Ultra-compact manual flashes
They are convenient for use with new mirrorless cameras. These flashes have almost the same capabilities but are smaller in size and have less power.
Godox V860 Generation III
This flash is very similar to the first one, the difference being in power. The V860 has a built-in powerful lithium-ion battery, which provides autonomy of over 550 full-power flashes. What does this power and durability give you? Even faster recycling time and the assurance that it won't stop in the middle of your work. This gives the flash an advantage when shooting events and moving, intense scenes. These flashes are also available for various brands: Godox V860 IIIC Flash for Canon, Godox V860 IIIN Flash for Nikon, Godox V860 IIIS Flash for Sony, Godox V860 IIIO Olympus/Panasonic TTL, Godox V860 IIIF Fujifilm TTL, Godox V860 IIIP Pentax TTL
The new concept in Godox manual flashes: Godox V1S
The new concept in Godox manual flashes are the flashes with a round head (the V1's round head allows for the use of a new type of accessories with magnetic attachment on the front). They are powerful and have a modeling light that can be adjusted from 1 to 10 steps. This flash is slightly heavier, has a different reflector and disperses light more evenly. This brings it closer to the light of large studio lamps. In addition, the round head has a new type of accessory for magnetic attachment.
Godox manual flashes for macro photography
We present two such flashes: MF-12 kit and MFR76. The characteristic of both is that they are mounted on the lens. Various adapter rings can be added to them for different lens diameters. In a ring for the MF-12 kit, up to 6 flashes can be placed, which can be controlled individually or together. MFR76, on the other hand, is a circular ring flash with two light elements that can be controlled individually.
More details about these flashes, as well as their functions and what accessories and modifiers you can use with them to achieve diverse and creative results - we show and tell in the video. In it, we have chosen a red cat as a model :), and the photos we took of it with different flashes, modifiers, and accessories will clearly show you the differences in the result. You can see them here - in Dynaphos Light Class 003, and also subscribe to our YouTube channel for more useful and interesting videos from the world of photo and video equipment. You will also find the first two episodes of Dynaphos Light Class: on basic light modifiers and on stands for studio and outdoor lighting.
In the next video, we will show you how to work with synchronization and the simultaneous operation and control of multiple flashes.
