Canon Europe is introducing the EOS R100, specifically designed for users who want to preserve precious moments spent with family and friends and ideal for capturing important occasions and special memories. Equipped with a 24.1-megapixel APS-C sensor and Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, housed in a compact and lightweight body, the EOS R100 offers stunning yet easy-to-achieve image quality, perfect for on-the-go shooting. Alongside the camera, Canon is also introducing the RF 28mm F2.8 STM – Canon's smallest and lightest lens in the RF lineup – as well as the OC-E4A remote cord, compatible with Canon's multi-function shoe.

The EOS R100 features a 24.1-megapixel APS-C sensor, which is several times larger than sensors in high-end smartphones and offers noticeably higher image and video quality. This not only ensures flawless colors and incredible detail, but also allows users to shoot in low-light conditions and achieve beautiful and natural bokeh with a smoothly softened background to isolate the subject.

Along with the intelligent autofocus of the EOS R series, the EOS R100 model is also equipped with Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology with fast and precise subject recognition and supports human eye tracking when using the viewfinder or LCD display, allowing the shooter to keep up with the action and focus on the important aspects of shooting. With a continuous shooting rate of up to 6.5 fps in "One-Shot AF" mode and 3.5 fps in "Continuous AF" mode^[i], the EOS R100 allows you to capture the priceless moment.

The EOS R100 has better video recording capabilities compared to a smartphone or DSLR camera, offering 4K 25p video recording^[ii], and represents an easy-to-use entry-level camera that includes all the advantages of the EOS R system. The model also supports Full HD video recording at 60 fps and 720p video at 120 fps – ideal for achieving smooth slow-motion for more creativity when capturing holidays and vacations. Also, the reliable Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology allows face recognition and eye tracking when recording Full HD video.

With its compact design and weight of just 356g^[iii], the EOS R100 is smaller and lighter than a traditional DSLR camera and is ideal for photographers who frequently shoot on the go. Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® connectivity^[iv] allow users to easily transfer images and videos to their smartphone via the Canon Camera Connect app for instant sharing. The app also allows users to control the camera remotely, while the Bluetooth connection provides easy control via the BR-E1 remote or via a smartphone – ideal for group photos and videos.

Introducing Canon's smallest and lightest RF prime lens

The RF 28mm F2.8 STM is an extremely compact and lightweight ultra-short RF prime lens for full-frame cameras. It is carefully designed for optimal performance with cameras such as the recently launched EOS R8. It easily fits in any camera bag, can be used instead of a body cap, and is ideal for travel and street photographers.

Its versatile 28mm focal length and wide maximum aperture of F2.8 make it suitable for a variety of situations. The wide aperture allows shooting in low light and provides shallow depth of field to create a blurred background and isolate the subject. The RF 28mm F2.8 STM is equipped with a combined control and focus ring, allowing users to easily adjust settings and quickly switch to manual focus when desired. Moreover, the STM motor provides quiet autofocus and smooth focus transitions between subjects.

The combination of an EOS R camera and RF lens enables various correction settings, assisting beginner photographers and videographers, ensuring better image quality and allowing for the construction of smaller lenses. More flexibility with Canon's new OC-E4A cable

The OC-E4A is Canon's new cable for the multi-function shoe, found on some EOS R system cameras, which allows the new advanced range of accessories to be positioned away from the camera. It enables multi-function accessories, such as Speedlites, to be used away from the camera for proper lighting when shooting in vertical orientation, to prevent shadows and reduce red-eye. The OC-E4A can also provide power for a variety of devices (e.g., microphones) and is designed to work with the RF 5.2mm F2.8L DUAL FISHEYE lens.
