Sony with an exhibition by Lyubomir Asenov, who has photographed the biggest sports achievements in Bulgaria and worldwide
Sony is organizing an exhibition featuring 60 photographs by Lyubomir Asenov, the only Bulgarian with permanent Formula 1 accreditation, who has captured the greatest Bulgarian and international sporting achievements of recent years. The occasion is May 17th - Bulgarian Sports Day.
Among the prominent Bulgarian athletes captured by Lyubomir are Bulgaria's golden rhythmic gymnastics ensemble consisting of Simona Dyankova, Stefani Kiryakova, Madlen Radukanova, Laura Traats, and Erika Zafirova, Olympic karate champion Ivet Goranova and boxing champion Stoyka Krasteva, as well as sports shooting silver medalist Antoaneta Kostadinova. They are joined by the ninth-best tennis player in the world – Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov. The photographs also feature the badminton champions from the European Olympic Games in Krakow – sisters Gabriela and Stefani Stoevi, and the golden boxer Stanimira Petrova.
The exhibition also reveals moments from the matches of three-time European medalist and bronze medalist from the 2012 London Olympics Tervel Pulev and the 2012 European professional heavyweight boxing champion Kubrat Pulev. The exhibition also showcases images of the young hope of Bulgarian motor sports – 17-year-old Formula 3 racer Nikola Tsolov, the captain with the most appearances for the Bulgarian national football team – Stiliyan Petrov, and athlete Tikhomir Ivanov – champion of the World University Games in Naples.
The photographs also feature the Bulgarian NBA basketball star and "Sportsman of the Year" for Bulgaria in 2022 and 2023, Aleksandar Vezenkov. Some of the global stars included in the talented Bulgarian photographer's exhibition are Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Ronnie O'Sullivan, and Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner.
All exhibited panels will be available for purchase, with the proceeds from sales to be donated to the development of children's sports in Bulgaria.
"This is an opportunity for residents and guests of the capital to enjoy the exceptional work of Lyubomir Asenov and support the development of children's sports in Bulgaria," say the organizers from SONY.
The exhibition is organized in partnership with Sofia Municipality and can be viewed from May 10 to May 21 at the "Bridge of Lovers" at the National Palace of Culture, with its official opening on May 13 at 7 PM.
Lyubomir Asenov has been a professional photographer since 2006. He has worked for numerous publications, including dailies, weeklies, monthly newspapers, and international photo agencies. In 2012, he founded the largest sports photo agency in Bulgaria - LAP.bg. With accreditation from the FIA and Formula 1, Lyubomir has witnessed over 148 races. He was a photographer at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the Ryder Cup in France in 2018. In 2019, he was ranked among the top 15 best photographers in the world by AIPS (International Sports Press Association). He has worked with car brands such as BMW, Toyota, Renault, Nissan, Hyundai, capturing high-quality and commercial action photographs for them.
