Sony Introduces Wide-Angle G Lens™ FE 16-25mm F2.8 G Zoom Lens
The lens combines the outstanding capabilities of an F2.8 aperture with a compact and lightweight design
Sony is pleased to introduce the latest addition to its lineup of full-frame α™ (Alpha™) E-mount lenses. The FE 16-25mm F2.8 G is a wide-angle, bright F2.8 lens across the entire zoom range from 16mm to 25mm. The lens combines the necessary features for high-quality photos with a compact design for convenient portability.
The new lens offers high resolution, excellent bokeh, and precise, quiet, and fast AF (autofocus). It is impressively light – only 409g, highly portable, and allows you to enjoy shooting every day, capturing perspectives only achievable with a wide-angle lens. Sony's new addition shares the same filter diameter, operational capabilities, and approximately the same size and weight as the "FE 24-50mm F2.8 G" announced in February 2024. The lens is easy to use for handheld shooting or on a tripod. It expands the range of expression for photo or video shooting of multiple compositions, landscapes, architecture, portraits, selfies, and is even suitable for starry sky shots.

- Compact and lightweight design with the latest optical and mechanical construction
- Filter diameter φ67 mm, maximum diameter 74.8 mm, length 91.4 mm, weighing approximately 409 g
- The precise placement of four aspherical lenses and three ED glass elements, and an ED aspherical lens, helps effectively reduce aberrations, including chromatic aberrations. High resolution is ensured from the center to every corner of the frame
- The 11-blade circular aperture and optimized spherical aberrations provide the beautiful, soft, and smooth bokeh – a hallmark of the G Lens series
- Stunning close-up shots with a minimum focusing distance of 0.18 meters (AF) and a maximum magnification of 0.20x[1]
- With two integrated linear motors, enabling remarkably accurate and quiet focus, even on fast-moving subjects. Supports high-speed continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking up to 120 frames per second when used with the full-frame mirrorless camera α9 III[2]. Smooth tracking even at high frame rates of 4K 120p or FHD 240p[3] for video recordings that require precise focus
