Sony is further expanding its E-mount lens series with the introduction of the FE 14mm F1.8 GM (model SEL14F18GM) – a compact, ultra-wide-angle, fast lens that allows users to capture the world from new perspectives, especially when shooting landscapes, architecture, interiors, and the night sky.

Exceptional Resolution in a Compact and Lightweight Design
The new FE 14mm F1.8 GM lens features a compact optical design measuring just 8.6 cm x 10.2 cm and weighing only 462 g, utilizing state-of-the-art optical technologies for superior resolution and stunning contrast. Two XA (extreme aspherical) elements maintain excellent resolution across the entire image, even in the corners, and also enable a compact, lightweight design. Two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements and one Super ED glass element provide optical enhancements to suppress chromatic aberrations, excellent contrast, and accurate color reproduction at any aperture.
Thanks to the maximum aperture of F1.8, users can accurately capture point light sources, making the lens suitable for astrophotography or other low-light conditions without the need for extremely slow shutter speeds. For shooting in difficult conditions with challenging lighting from a photographic perspective, Sony's original Nano AR Coating II anti-reflective technology ensures the clearest possible image by suppressing flare and ghosting.
The FE 14mm F1.8 GM can produce beautiful bokeh at F1.8, even at an ultra-wide-angle focal length of 14mm. With a minimum focusing distance of 24.9 cm, the FE 14mm F1.8 GM lens offers greater possibilities for close-up photos and videos, creating the impressive bokeh for which Sony's premium G Master series lenses are known. In addition, the precise XA elements, the circular 9-blade aperture mechanism, and aberration optimization allow the FE 14mm F1.8 GM lens to reproduce beautiful background bokeh without unwanted onion-ring effect.
State-of-the-Art Autofocus Technologies
With the help of two XD (extreme dynamic) linear motors, focus can be precisely adjusted and maintained, even when shooting with a shallow depth of field at F1.8, providing professionals with the reliability they need to do their job even in difficult shooting conditions. The FE 14mm F1.8 GM also allows for quiet AF with minimal vibration for smooth transitions, making it ideal for video content creation.
Professional Level of Control and Reliability
The new lens includes several advanced and versatile control options, including a focus hold button, a focus mode switch, and a focus ring. This ensures smooth and efficient operation in various shooting conditions. Multiple functions can be assigned to the focus hold button via the camera interface for further customization. The FE 14mm F1.8 GM lens also uses Linear Response MF for direct and precise manual focusing. An aperture ring is also included, allowing intuitive control. For more creative freedom, the FE 14mm F1.8 GM includes a rear filter holder that accepts standard ND filters, color correction, soft filters, and more.
The dust and moisture resistant design* ensures the reliability you need in difficult shooting conditions. The front element of the lens uses a fluorine coating that repels water, oil, and other contaminants. The rear element also has a fluorine coating, keeping the surface clean when changing the rear filter. The lens has a built-in petal-shaped hood that effectively blocks external light that can cause flare or ghosting.
