On July 12, 2023, Sony introduced its new FE 70-200MM F4 Macro G OSS II telephoto zoom lens, which covers focal lengths from 70mm to 200mm with a maximum aperture of F4 and is compatible with the α™ (Alpha™) series of 35mm full-frame E-mount cameras.
FE 70-200MM F4 Macro G OSS II is a lightweight, compact telephoto zoom lens, suitable for a wide range of different situations. The FE 70-200MM F4 Macro G OSS II not only offers high-speed AF with excellent characteristics, a trademark of the G series lenses, but is also the world's first1 zoom lens that offers half-macro capability across the entire zoom range with a maximum magnification of 0.5x[2] at any length. In addition, there is an option for a teleconverter (sold separately[3]), super-telephoto photography up to 400mm and macro magnification up to true 1:1 at any length within the zoom range[4].
This is Sony's 50th full-frame E-mount lens[5]. Since launching its first lens, Sony has demonstrated its commitment to supporting photographers and videographers in their creative work by bringing together the latest technologies and continuously expanding its range of E-mount lenses, covering both full-frame and APS-C formats.
Compact and lightweight model that allows you to shoot both from a distance and close up, and is compatible with a teleconverter
With an overall length of 149mm and a weight of approximately 794g (without the tripod mount), the FE 70-200MM F4 Macro G OSS II is a zoom lens that can be used for many different purposes, including sports scenes, landscapes, wild birds, and even macro photography.
When shooting from 70mm to 200mm, the lens allows for world-first[1] half-macro[2] with a maximum magnification of 0.5x throughout the entire zoom range. Advanced aspherical lenses help achieve uniformly excellent resolution and contrast at every point in the image. In addition, ED (extra-low dispersion) elements suppress chromatic aberrations.
It also supports a high-performance teleconverter[6] (sold separately3). With super-telephoto capability up to 400 mm (equivalent to 600 mm when used with an APS-C camera)4, you can capture distant subjects enlarged against a beautiful bokeh background. When used with the SEL20TC, you can shoot macro images up to 1:1 across the entire zoom range.
Fast autofocus and excellent video recording characteristics
Sony's unique XD (extreme dynamic) linear motor increases autofocus speed by up to 20%[7]. You get approximately twice as good tracking of moving subjects compared to the previous model[7], so you can continue to track your subjects with maximum precision. Significant improvements have been introduced in tracking focus during zooming[8]. If combined with the flagship α1 body, you can shoot continuous high-speed shots at up to 30 frames per second.
A new SteadyShot MODE3[9] has also been added, which optimizes the camera shake correction algorithm with a focus on frame stability when shooting moving subjects. In combination with a compatible body, you get better compensation for unwanted camera shake for stable video clips.
Intuitive functions and high reliability for safe use even in adverse shooting environments
FE 70-200MM F4 Macro G OSS II helps all photographers and videographers looking for intuitive operation and reliability from their lenses. In addition to a focus range limiter and a constant direct manual focus switch for instant switching from AF to MF (manual focus), the included detachable tripod mount provides additional stability for super-telephoto and macro shots.
In addition, the front element of the lens has a fluorine coating for easier removal of fingerprints, dust, grease, and other contaminants from the lens surface. The dust and moisture-resistant design provides additional reliability for outdoor use and in adverse conditions[10] for greater shooting freedom.

The new FE 70-200MM F4 Macro G OSS II will be available from August at prices starting from BGN 3999.
