New Auto Tracking and Auto Loop applications for Canon PTZ cameras
Auto Tracking and Auto Loop Enhance Content Creation Process
Bulgaria, Sofia, 27 January 2023 – Canon Europe today expands the functionality of its PTZ cameras with two new applications, available through the Add-On Applications System, allowing users to add new video production features. Canon's new Auto Tracking RA-AT001 and Auto Loop RA-AL001 applications respond to market demand for powerful standalone video production solutions without the use of external hardware. These new paid applications are easy to configure and, combined with Canon's 4K technology, represent the ideal solution for a wide range of scenarios, including higher education, corporate events, live events, TV broadcasts, and places of worship.
The new applications will launch with support for the CR-N700 camera – Canon's flagship 4K remote control PTZ camera. In the future, Canon will expand the range of applications available through the Add-On Applications System, as well as its range of compatible remote control camera models.

Auto Tracking Application
Leveraging Canon’s advanced drive mechanism built into PTZ cameras, this new application precisely and automatically tracks people so they are always in frame, without operator intervention. Both single and multi-camera shooting are possible without the need for an operator, thereby reducing the workload for video production teams or operators and capturing high-quality and professional content. By performing visual analysis through the camera, the system has excellent capabilities for full-body tracking, upper-body tracking, from the shoulders up, or other viewing areas, as well as settings for different walking speeds. The camera's advanced features and smooth drive work in synergy with the pan/tilt mechanism to achieve high-quality video directly from the camera.
With a wide range of settings, including composition, tracking sensitivity, and priority display area, the CR-N700 can be customized for various applications, such as live streaming or corporate events, ensuring easy capture of professional video content. Through the composition setting, operators can set the optimal position to ensure ideal subject composition, and tracking sensitivity can be adjusted in ten levels, allowing the camera to be used in various scenarios.

Auto Loop Application
Today, Canon also introduces its Auto Loop application, which allows the camera to automatically perform pre-programmed pan/tilt/zoom movements without the need for an operator to manually control the camera's operation. This is useful for situations where operators need to perform simple repetitive camera movements, such as at live music events, where the shot moves from the drummer to the vocalist, to the audience, and then back. This allows directors and operators to concentrate on operating other cameras, reducing the workload and saving labor and personnel.
The two programmed movement functions – loop or back-and-forth – provide greater flexibility in choosing movements for different shooting situations. To make shots look natural in multi-camera configurations, the application provides smooth acceleration/deceleration adjustment at the start/stop of movement to simulate manual camera handling. The functions are easily programmed through a single screen where operators can set the position and movement trajectory, and even preview the image, as well as control the movement speed and pause duration at each position.

Canon will showcase this technology for the first time at ISE 2023 through its university lecture capture and corporate studio multi-camera demonstration system, demonstrating how these applications can automate content creation and simplify systems. Canon's booth is in Hall 3A800 from January 31 to February 3.

The applications will be available for download from April 2023 for use with the CR-N700 model. Compatibility with other PTZ cameras will be available soon.
