Just a few hours ago, Manfrotto announced a new addition to their range of professional video heads! The new Nitrotech N8 model is positioned slightly below the company's largest head, the 509HD, but apart from size and payload capacity, the head is much more modern and closer to the needs of contemporary videographers – documentarians, journalists, independent filmmakers. It is designed for flat mount, allowing it to be used on a tripod with a 3/8 thread, a slider, a crane, etc., but with the addition of a 75mm or 100mm bowl adapter, it can also be used on a classic video tripod!
Professional videographers work in the controlled environment of the studio and in dynamic conditions outside of it, and they always need the best and highest quality equipment.
A basic necessity is to mount different camera configurations on the same head (be it on a tripod, slider, etc.) with perfect control and balance, but without excessive size and weight.
Manfrotto Nitrotech offers a revolutionary solution for continuous, stepless counterbalance control via a nitrogen-filled piston mechanism – from 0 to 8 kg at a 55mm center of gravity!
Adjusting the movement on the horizontal and vertical axes with convenient rotating mechanisms ensures smooth and tremor-free head movement!
There is also a rosette with a 3/8 inch thread for screwing in a magic arm for accessories such as a monitor or lighting. The plate is marked for easier adjustment.
The quick release plate clamp is equipped with a quick release mechanism, and the camera can be placed on top and removed with a simple upward movement!

Before reaching the assembly line, the head undergoes extremely strict tests
Security – The plate and locking mechanism are tested over 5000 times – attachment/removal
Durability – Each drag control knob is tested over 5000 times
Tilt test – The head is placed in its extreme positions (from +90 to -70 degrees) 5000 times
Pan test – Parts are checked and precisely assembled without play
Nitrogen piston – Usable at temperatures from -15C to 50C
Sand test – To simulate desert use, several kilograms of sand are poured onto the head, but despite this, the piston shows no deviations from its normal operation!
Salt test – Salt is a known enemy of metal mechanical parts, but our head showed no change in its performance.
Locking (Drift test) – Checking for movement with tightened pan and tilt locks
Piston check – Each part is checked individually to ensure maximum head performance!
Spirit level – 100% tested and accurate!
