International Photographic Encounters Festival
"International Photographic Meetings" is the first international photography festival in Bulgaria, held annually in October in the city of Plovdiv - "European Capital of Culture 2019". Since its inception in 2002, the festival has been organized by the "Plovdiv Photographic Center" foundation and the "Culture and Cultural Heritage" directorate of Plovdiv Municipality.
The main sponsors are "Photosynthesis" Ltd., "Dynafoss" Ltd., "Factor BG" Ltd. and "KCM 2000" JSC. The exhibitions are held with the support of the Municipal Institute "Old Plovdiv", the City Art Gallery, and the Regional History Museum.

The idea of the "Photodummy" program of the festival is to present the photographic book as an independent and complete form of photographic creation. A competition for photographic book dummies will be held. An exhibition will present the selected books for the competition.
From October 6 to 26, a selection of 64 books from "Photo Festival Book" from Istanbul 2017 will be shown.
Competition for photographic book dummies.
A photodummy is a pilot version of a photographic book, its physical original, created independently, without the participation of a publisher. Projects produced in a circulation of up to 25 copies can participate. Books published with a cover price and an ISBN will not be accepted.
Electronic versions of books cannot participate in the competition.
The minimum permissible age for participants is 18 years.
Each participant can submit up to 3 projects. A separate application form must be completed for each project.
Participation in the competition is free of charge.
The jury will evaluate the photographic project, idea, design, and print quality.
Competition awards:
Funding for the print run of book dummies ranked at:
1st place with 1500 BGN.
2nd place 1000 BGN
3rd place with 750 BGN.
The awarded dummies remain in the competition archive.

Shipping costs are paid by the author.
Dummies can be presented at Lautliev Gallery, Plovdiv, 11 Zlatarska Str.

"Photo Exchange" is a five-day program that provides meetings for photographers and photography students with directors of photo festivals and curators in the form of lectures and "Portfolio Review".
The date of the event is October 7, Saturday, in the conference hall of the Alafrangite Hotel, Old Plovdiv, 13 Kiril Nektariev Str.
