Canon Bulgaria Celebrates 5th Anniversary of EOS R System with Exciting Event
Long-time brand ambassador Joel Santos will present untold stories from remote destinations around the world through his lens
30.10.2023. Canon Bulgaria celebrates the 5th anniversary of the revolutionary EOS R system with an exciting event titled "Our Planet: Untold Stories through the Lens of Joel Santos." It will take place on November 9, 2023, at 7:00 PM at the capital's gallery – Vivacom Art Hall, at 5 Oborishte Street. The special guest will be the long-time brand ambassador – Joel Santos. The photographer and documentary filmmaker will present visual narratives about some of the most remote and inhospitable places in the world.
The upcoming event aims to trace the journey of innovation and creativity through the lens of a unique "time machine." As an international brand ambassador, Joel Santos will present inspiring photo and video footage, backed by captivating stories from his adventures to corners of the world where there are still active volcanoes and ancient traditions. The celebration of the EOS R system's anniversary is further proof of Canon's commitment to pushing beyond the established boundaries of the familiar and encouraging the exchange of best practices in innovation and creativity.

Since its launch in 2018, Canon's EOS R system has transformed the world of photo and video capture. Today, it includes 14 cameras, 42 lenses, and numerous accessories, covering both full-frame and APS-C formats. About Joel Santos
Joel Santos holds a bachelor's and master's degree in economics and worked as a university lecturer at the University of Economics in Dili, East Timor, from 2004 to 2006. From 2007 to 2010, he was editor-in-chief of Portugal's most authoritative photography magazine (associated with Future Publishing's Digital Camera), and then dedicated himself to his greatest passion – creating original documentaries and visual storytelling.
Today, he is a director and producer of travel documentaries to some of the most remote places in the world. He is the creator of the documentary television series "Mundo à Vista" ("A Glimpse of the World") and "Portugal à Vista" ("A Glimpse of Portugal") for Portugal's leading television channel – SIC, and the streaming service offered by the platform – OPTO SIC. The two series document conflict regions, volcanically active and remote regions such as South Sudan, Niger, Ethiopia, Benin, Mongolia, Indonesia, China, Guatemala, Mexico, Iceland, Scotland, and more.
Joel Santos is the recipient of a series of awards, including: "Travel Photographer of the Year" (2016), 1st place ("Paradise Corners") and 2nd place ("Nature and Wildlife") awards at the ART & Tour International Tourism Film Festival (2019), and 1st place at BES/VISAO Nature (WPF jury, 2005). He is also a journalist, author, and photographer for Portugal's leading news magazine – VISAO. In addition, over the past 5 years, he has created content for special editions dedicated to the Azores and Madeira.
He is the author of 10 books, 4 of which are thematic (India, Portugal, Amazon – Brazil, Portuguese Nature Parks) and 6 are technical (Photography and Editing). His images and articles are published in leading international magazines and newspapers, such as Nat Geo, Nat Geo Travel, Geo, The Guardian, and others.
