In 1970, Anton Wilson, a cinematographer for the American television network ABC, partnered with his Cornell University roommate George Bauer, an experienced electrical engineer. Their mission was to create a better battery. Using Anton's real-world experience and his knowledge of the challenges and frustrations faced by camera crews every day, Bauer succeeded in developing powerful solutions that pioneered the production of the first smart chargers and digital batteries.

Putting the needs of camera operators first, Anton/Bauer developed a range of industry-first products, including the revolutionary Gold Mount^® - the first flexible battery mounting system. Until then, camera operators were forced to wear their batteries on belts around their waists or over their shoulders. For batteries

Level 1 - Intelligent Monitoring
Anton/Bauer's intelligent software monitoring means you don't have to worry about critical battery parameters.
The battery software continuously monitors:
- Cell voltage
- Current
- Temperature
- Total battery voltage
This advanced monitoring ensures your battery operates optimally during charging, discharging, or idle mode. With this safety net, you can focus on capturing perfect shots without interruptions, knowing your equipment is in top condition.

Level 2 - Rapid Response
Anton/Bauer's hardware sampling provides an additional layer of protection by reacting quickly to unforeseen power surges that software may not detect. As a result, you can confidently navigate dynamic shooting conditions, relying on the battery's rapid response to unexpected challenges. Whether you're shooting action or covering live events, Anton/Bauer batteries have your back.

Level 3 - Maximum Protection
Anton/Bauer batteries are equipped with additional circuitry that provides continuous voltage monitoring.
In rare cases, when the first two levels encounter an unexpected obstacle, this third level kicks in to provide maximum protection. By permanently opening a fuse on the PCBA, the battery is protected from potential damage, ensuring your safety is never compromised.

Level 1 - Multiple Isolation
In the event of a component failure, our chargers are designed to isolate the affected area from the rest of the charging circuit. Anton/Bauer power supplies are completely separate from the charging circuit, protecting the entire operation. With built-in features like fast-acting fuses and short-circuit protection, even if the power supply fails, the charger remains resilient.

Level 2 - Communication

Our chargers engage in a sophisticated dialogue with batteries, providing personalized charging.
By communicating with the battery to determine the desired current and voltage, Anton/Bauer chargers create a customized charging profile optimized for both battery performance and longevity.

Level 3 - Controlled Ramp-up

Once communication is established between the battery and charger, we prioritize safety and precision during the charging process.

Instead of abruptly applying specified voltage and current, Anton/Bauer employs a gradual ramp-up approach, carefully monitoring the battery's response at each step.

For example, if a Dionic XT90 battery requests charging to 16.1 V at 4 A, the charger gradually increases the parameters, constantly evaluating the battery's condition and temperature.

Through continuous communication and real-time monitoring, Anton/Bauer chargers ensure that vital information is preserved, and your equipment remains safe throughout the charging cycle.

All Anton/Bauer batteries undergo multiple endurance tests for low pressure (e.g., in an airplane), a temperature test with a sudden change in operating temperature, simulation of transport vibrations, impact resistance test, short-circuit simulation, overcharge test, and rapid discharge.
